In spring 1909, Iowa State had a new gymnasium (State Gym); a good debate team, oratorical team, and basketball team; a renewed interest in baseball and a well-performing track team; and the first student government was formed. Note that the football team wasn’t included.

The illustration was by George Wagner, who occasionally drew illustrations from fall 1908 to fall 1909. His illustrations were best recognized by his use of lines for shading and especially shadows.
