The I.S.C. Student, “By Way of Information,” 11 September 1911

BY WAY OF INFORMATION

The road to Boone from a late photo. “Let the grass grow long and luxuriant on the road to Boone.” -Prexy

Issue: 11 Sep 1911

I’m not sure what was necessarily being explained in this illustration, but it seems like the college president stopped students from going to Boone. While it certainly sounds odd for students to do that ~110 years later, in 1911, Boone would have been home to bars and perhaps other entertainment not found in Ames. Downtown Ames had a few bars, but none existed in Campustown. Students might have also found a little more freedom in Boone than Ames. Not every business eagerly welcomed swarms of college students.
